My child has never taken a dance class before, will DDC be a good choice for them?

At Desert Dance Collective, we absolutely love sharing dance with students of all levels. It is a privilege for us to be able to introduce the excitement of dance to new students! With top notch training and fun at the core of every class, you can rest easy knowing that your child is having a blast learning something new.

What is the dress code for class?

Every style of dance offers a different dress code for safety and efficiency. Take a look at our Dress Code section to find out what your child needs for class! Here you will find the attire required for each class for both girls and boys and links for purchasing these items on our studio page at DiscountDance.com

Do you offer any tuition discounts?

We currently offer 10% tuition discounts for siblings who would like to take class. We also offer a Refer A Friend discount! If a friend registers their student and lists your name as how they heard about us, you both get a $10 credit on your accounts.

What happens if my child has to miss a class?

For students who miss a class due to illness or vacation, a make up class is available. Make up classes must be taken within the season. Contact the front desk for a list of make up classes for your student! It is important for the entire class that one student misses no more than five classes in a school year. This allows the entire class to continue learning at a steady pace and is imperative for learning recital dances.

Can I sit in class and watch my child?

To prevent distractions and allow students to perform their best in class, parents, siblings, and friends are not permitted to sit in and watch class. We invite you to watch our live feed of the class located in the lobby. Once a month, Observation Week is offered in the last ten minutes of every class so that families and friends can see their student's progress firsthand!

Can I change or drop a class?

Not every style of dance is for every child, so we recommend students try out a variety of styles to see which ones suit them the best! Reach out to the front desk to see options for changing classes. Dropping a class requires a 30 day written notice that can be sent to info@desertdancecollective.com. Outstanding balances within this date range will be charged to the student's file.

Is there a recital at the end of the season?

Your students work hard all year in class, and there's no better way to show off their skills than performing in front of friends and families! Our Christmas show, "Celebration of Christmas", will be December 12, 2021 at Ironwood Ridge High School. Our Spring Recital will be in June 2022.

Does DDC have a competition team?

Our performance teams, the Green Team & Gold Team, perform at events around Tucson such as Roadrunners hockey games, Zoolights, and more. Auditions for the 21/22 Season are now closed. DDC is currently a non-competitive recreational studio. Our goal is to provide a great dance education that is also a ton of fun for all students! Opportunities to develop a team that occasionally travels and competes may be available in the future at DDC.

How many students are permitted in each class?

For our 21/22 Season, most classes will be capped at 18 students per class. Little Movers classes are capped at 14 students per class. In our 3,000 square foot space, this provides plenty of room for students to move and physically distance safely as well as giving our instructors more one on one time with each student.

How do I register?

You can find classes, register, and pay securely here! The 21/22 Season will begin on August 9th and end on May 28th. We accept new students year round. Please reach out to the front desk if you have questions about registration for the season!
